AVITO MUSEUM

< о проекте >

Avito and Architectural Excesses have teamed up to create a digital museum that tells the history of Russia's national architectural heritage.

< задача и решение >

Our task was to create an interactive hub from Avito, where documentaries from the Architectural Excesses channel will be posted. We offered our client to develop the first digital museum of Russian architecture.

The halls of the Avito Museum contain knowledge of both historical buildings and the familiar “extinct” objects of Russian architecture.

It all starts with choosing a city

To start your digital tour of Russian architecture, you need to choose a city — Moscow, St. Petersburg or Nizhny Novgorod.

Next, choose an excursion

The tour begins with an animation of the house, which, when the user scrolls smoothly, unfolds into a large collage that reveals the image, style, features, techniques, distinctive elements of the house and its history.

The collage animation ends with a transition to the first point of the tour, the introduction. When a story about an architectural object and its history begins, the scrolling direction changes from vertical to horizontal. The tour separates the unity and continuity of the collage, acting like a physical tour of the house. The tour page becomes a single canvas, like a solid page of an album, with rare collage illustrations and small abstract forms that reproduce the features of the exterior and interior of the house.

Each tour includes an excerpt from the story of a resident of this house. A wide variety of people shared their extraordinary experiences with Architectural Excesses — how they live, how they feel about their home, why and how they chose it, and what it's like to have your home such a unique cultural and historical asset.

End of the tour

The tour ends with a virtual postcard that you can repost on social media to share your impressions. It is also possible to proceed to the next tour to continue your journey through the history of architectural heritage, without going back to choosing a city or home.

Color system

We have created several systems that divide the site into two main parts: pre-sightseeing and sightseeing. Each system is based on a rule that converts the four colors of the Avito logo into several color schemes that help separate and organize destinations or content from each other. For example, the pre-excursion part separates cities from each other, and the sightseeing part separates architectural sites.
